Incoming Hiccup Event!
Aug. 19th, 2021 04:34 pmbadgernetJust a notification that there will be a hiccup event next Tuesday, on the 24th! The theme of the hiccup event will be: Your canon, but IN SPACE! Essentially those affected (this is optional) will have their canons temporarily become a version of their canon in space (think science fiction and all). It's up to you whether your character are their normal selves boggling at what just happened, or if they'll temporarily become in-space AUs of themselves. You can also have your character be completely unaffected and they'll still be able to interact with those affected.
You're getting advance notification so you can plot before it starts. Have fun, all!

Welcome to the third beta test of BadgerNet, Multiversal Edition! Settle in and enjoy your posting experiences. Everything in this will be non-canon.
Here're some example prompts to play around with. You can make up your own!
1. An embarrassing moment of yours just got posted to the site. Oops!
2. Post your proudest moment to the site.
3. Hiccup Event: Reversed Seasons. If it's summer where your character is, it's winter now. If it's spring there, it's autumn now. And so on!
4. Hiccup Event: Your Canon... IN SPACE! Whatever your character's canon is, it's now taking place in outer space.
5. Hiccup Event: Life is a Dream. Your character's world takes on the surreal qualities of a dream.
6. You're livestreaming a dramatic moment in your life.
7. Asking the people on the site for advice on something.
And so on. Be sure to read the rules and FAQ before posting.

It's time to actually get Deedee's canon started - Which means that everyone playing on Deedee's server (the Chimera server - and people piggybacking on Badgernet) might potentially get sucked into Mundus, appearing in the hub city of Viacruz along with her as a first-level character with basic equipment.
(please god, let the IDF sign up for this. I wanna see how they react to the shoe being on the other foot.)
I have a whole effortpost about the species and classes here, but honestly I can just help people workshop stuff. I should probably also talk about crafting proficiency and the Gods, as well. If we don't have a Hikaru, NPCing him to explain this and link the Wiki works; this is information your characters would know.
Choosing to translate your character perfectly is valid. So is choosing a character appropriate to their heroic fantasies. So is choosing something wildly inappropriate for the lulz!
For most of the people on Badgernet, this will be temporary; for the rest of Deedee's canon, it will NOT.
Let me know any suggestions you might have about this event; I'm probably with mod permission running it starting on the 9th, and it'll end no later than the end of the month.

Hiccup Event Info: World of Dimness

The theme is: World of Dimness (yes it's a parody of the World of Darkness tabletop setting). Basically, everyone gets turned into your choice of monster, it can be anything, and each kind of monster has its own cliques. For example, werewolves might have the Urbane Dogs (city-loving werewolves), Canine Hippies (peace-loving werewolves), and Spooky Tails (occult-loving werewolves). Or for another example, aquatic monsters might have the Lake Lurkers (secretive aquatic monsters who act behind the scenes), Sea Surprisers (party animals who love surprise parties, it's not their fault human ships are fragile), River Runners (river monsters who love going fast). Each of those cliques have their own opinions on other cliques and on other types of monsters.
Everyone affected gets a physical transformation of some kind along with powers specific to their monster type and to their clique, along with basic knowledge relevant to them like what their clique is like and said clique's opinions on others, along with knowledge of how to use their abilities. Any further mental changes is up to you--they might fully believe they're the new identity or get no other changes and remember their actual identities, and so on.
As with all hiccups, your character being affected is completely optional.
Feel free to plot on this post or Discord/Plurk or whatever about what your character will be and what they'll think of other characters. Basically just have fun! And also feel free to ask questions.
