Test Drive 1

Welcome to the beta test of BadgerNet, Multiversal Edition! Settle in and enjoy your posting experiences. Everything in this will be non-canon.

Here're some example prompts to play around with. You can make up your own!

1. An embarrassing moment of yours just got posted to the site. Oops!
2. Post your proudest moment to the site.
3. Hiccup Event: Vampires. Everyone affected is a vampire, your choice of what style of vampire.
4. Hiccup Event: Disney Princess. Animals just won't leave you alone!
5. Hiccup Event: Actor. You believe you're an actor playing the role of yourself as a character and you have the props and everything to prove it. Chill offstage and all that.
6. You're livestreaming a dramatic moment in your life.
7. Asking the people on the site for advice on something.

And so on. Be sure to read the rules and FAQ before posting.

i was too focused on the "surprise physical fitness" to even think about it much.

It's. Okay? It's okay. Being Deedee isn't the problem here, being Deedee is great really. She has Vigor 8 and Spirit 8, she has decent Agility, I'm not used to being in shape and that's actually fantastic.

What does it say about me that being a busty-ass foxgirl is the least terrifying thing about this ordeal.

I mean, that's a very fair thing to be distracted by.

I'm not sure, you'll have to figure it out for yourself, but it might say 'welcome to the And All I Got Was This Lousy Testosterone Club.' At the very least, I'd hazard you're not as attached to masculinity as some dudes. (Just as well. I'm not sure well-adjusted cishet men exist.

I freely admit I don't have a good sample size for that, but. My father and his friends sure aren't half as well-adjusted as they think they are.)

...dad did okay at it. Dae'seong Kim. I guess my stepdad was okay at it too but I'm not as close to him.

Every friend I have, everyone on this server with me anyway, is queer, huh.

You're one of those pure types, aren't you? Not that there's anything wrong with that. It takes all types to keep the world moving around.

Or maybe worlds? Shows no matter how old you are there's always something new to learn.

My father's an incompetent narcissist who's so far up his own ass it's a wonder he can see anything other than his stomach. There's a reason I say I have three parents worth the name, and he's not one of them.

Better that than the 'actual scum of the earth' side of MMO Land.
lightnovelexperiences: (fuck this!)

given that we just got word that someone killed the god of space who's also the logout system for shiggles and that's why we're stuck here from, uh, the goddess of the hunt, no bets that we're going to be hunting for Gators later.

that's also why we got nerfed into oblivion. someone got hurt, so they took away our toys.

i'm sorry to hear you had to deal with shitty parents. hope your found family is doing right by you. god knows that's what I am to Sekh or what I try to be anyway

would you describe that skeleton as either spooky or scary

coolest treasure we've gotten so far is I got some prayer beads that I can throw like bombs, except they explode into healing instead of fire

Pretty dry, lot of desert in the southwest part of the state, but it's a pretty long state with a lot of coast. I live near the Bay, so; mild winters, hot dry summers with wildfires if we're not careful.

And like, computers are everywhere in my world and most people can use one, if not really program. I'm talking to you from my computer. I've made a couple of shitty computer games, maybe gonna do Ludum Dare this year.

Wow. Before I got on Badgernet I'd say it's like out of a fairytale or a fantasy novel, but it's beautiful.
spider_queen: (yeah okay fine)

How charming of them. The people who decided to nuke the logout, not the nerf.

Mom got there in the end. Looking back I think she caught on to some of the problem sooner than I thought she did, but the Depression And Dysphoria Years were. Not good for paying attention to my surroundings. And she had the good sense from the beginning to hire some help to do the job she wasn't ready for and my father was never going to do, so. Three parents. Sure, most people wouldn't call the gardener one of their parents, but if I needed a non-toxic masculinity frame of reference I had it.

And frankly, Nanny kept the dark times from being even worse, even from a continent away. I wouldn't have been able to face her again.

He was certainly more scary than spooky! I never would've been able to defeat such a powerful mage all by myself. And a healing bomb is quite an exciting thing! I've never seen anything like that.

A - video

[The camera turns itself on before anyone appears to be in range, on... quite a lot of white, with just enough variance to suggest it's showing a room of some kind, and not glitching. After a while, footsteps approach wherever it's sitting, stop, and resume, more slowly.]

...This is new. Where did this thing come from?

[The (presumably) woman frowning at the camera is petite, looks twenty-something and East-Asian-ish, and has green eyes. Not like normal green eyes - think emerald green. Glass bottle green. Harry Potter green. She's wearing a pale lavender thing that might be a robe and might be a sundress.]

B - text

[Having established that whatever this network device is, it's not... official issue, Neriel has a question to pose to the mostly-mortal assembly of users. But privacy is hard to come by, and this'll be easier to put away if she's not making a video when she's inevitably interrupted, and all things considered she doesn't want to ask this question out loud, so text it is.]

What do you do if you discover someone may have been lying to you for a very long time?

[personal profile] godslantern 2020-10-06 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really have much to compare Heaven to; I haven't had the opportunity to leave in a very long time, and even that was for the purpose of shaping the void. Consensus from those who have been down there says Earth is brighter.

And... well, if anyone here has been to Hell, they're not talking about it. It's rumored to be very unpleasant, though.

I may not be the best person to ask this given my generally low faith in people's ability to not be stupid, but it sounds to me like they were being particularly stupid if they though the lie would hold up forever.
extrasaltypotato: (hey i'm grump)

B

[personal profile] extrasaltypotato 2020-10-06 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Define 'lying.'

I hate to have to specify this, but most of the people in my circle of friends concealed aspects of who they were from their work and immediate family because doing otherwise would put their livelihoods, if not their lives, in immediate jeopardy.

Likewise, there are secrets that would put others in jeopardy that I could forgive people for concealing.
godslantern: (remember is a place from long ago)

[personal profile] godslantern 2020-10-06 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
All things considered, I suspect they had reason to believe it would work. Insular communities don't lend themselves to fact-checking.

Arguably, at the same time it's their own fault I got evidence to the contrary.
godslantern: (the gift of empathy)

[personal profile] godslantern 2020-10-06 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not an unreasonable clarification.

It's... kind of a long story. The short version is that I was told my friends wouldn't even think of me after they left, and I just got some very strong evidence to the contrary. I'm not certain the person who told me that made any attempt to find out whether it was true, either.

[So less lying and more flat-out gaslighting.]
extrasaltypotato: (into battle)

[personal profile] extrasaltypotato 2020-10-06 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Lying with the intention of causing harm.

Bluntly, destroy them. Or at least, know this is grounds for immediately cutting ties with them.

And, for all it's worth, I'm sorry.
godslantern: (you're lost inside your houses)

[personal profile] godslantern 2020-10-06 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Destruction has never been my strong point.

Immediately cutting ties isn't quite an option either, but I could potentially work toward it. There's one person I trust to give me a straight answer on this, and he's certainly not coming back here either, so I'd have to go to him for that.

But I need to know whether I've been mourning my friends for upward of six millennia when there was no reason to.
extrasaltypotato: (Default)

[personal profile] extrasaltypotato 2020-10-06 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I expected that it wouldn't be as simple as that; but I wanted to make the urgency and vehemence of my advice abundantly clear.

Find those you can trust and verify your suspicions, absolutely. If they wanted to isolate you, you need to know why.
blastiaobsessieanonymous: (Sigh...)

[personal profile] blastiaobsessieanonymous 2020-10-06 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That is definitely. Something, to say the least.

Maybe I'm the weird one out, because in Aspio, fact-checking is literally the core of our jobs as Blastia scientists. As for the person who lied to you, I can see if I can find a way to loan you a Blastia well-suited to setting people on fire, if that would help?
