Talking about shit's not really our strong point. [But he might be able to ask Mitsuru if she knows anything that might help. He wants to help, and doesn't even mind the combat end of this, he just... doesn't want to be a liability.]

If I try to stick to sideline shit, there's a good chance I'll end up bored out of my mind or pissed off sooner or later. Probably sooner.

What is this thing that is suppose to be so dangerous anyway?

Some kinda eldritch bullshit that kicks in at midnight. There's monsters.

Aki's always liked punching his problems till they're not problems anymore, so of course he's jumping at the chance to punch a problem.

At midnight? Do you see coffins with those monsters too?

Yeah. [Fuck, how old is this kid?]

Don't tell me you and your friend are going to fight those monsters! They're dangerous!

How are you going to fight them anyway?

The other choice is lettin' Mitsuru keep doing it alone. That's not any better.

[Which is not saying Mitsuru's not capable. She's a badass. But she shouldn't have to do this alone, either.]

Calling something that can push back on their level. I want a word with whichever sick fuck looked at the possible 'summon the thing' designs and went with the gun, but that's already settled, I guess.

[Wait what? This is just too much for him to handle here! First he finds out someone else can see those coffins too and now this??

For a moment, he kept on staring at what this person wrote to him wondering just what he was saying. What about a gun? What about summoning things?]

I'm so confused right now. How can you guys fight a summon thing with a gun? Am I missing something? [Let him on whatever is going on!]

It's not a real gun, but that doesn't really make things any better. The gun is what you're supposed to use to summon the thing that does the fighting, since just punching shit doesn't work all the time.

It doesn’t make sense why you would use a gun to summon something.

Seems like it would make things more complicated. [Adults are weird]

Because some sick fuck looked at the available options and went 'sure, making people shoot themselves in the head repeatedly, sounds great, let's do it.'

But does it work?

I’ll be surprised to see whatever this summon being is!

Well enough that Mitsuru's been doing this for... years.

Hopefully you won't see it. I sure don't plan on puttin' it on this thing, assuming the damn thing even works in the Dark Hour. [And if the kid sees a Persona in person, something has gone badly wrong, one way or another.]

If Mitsuru-san can fight those monsters, maybe I can too! I can even try to see if I can summon something! [Let the kid fight!]

[And like. Have you been talking to Aki, because this seems like the kind of thing he'd encourage a kid to do.]

Don’t underestimate me! I know I’m just a kid but I know I can fight!

Ain't my call to make, kid. [And frankly, if the adults overseeing this thing let a ten-year-old in...

...well, he guesses they already let Mitsuru get a head start on things, but they don't have to rely on grade-schoolers at this point. Still. Not Shinji's call to make.]

Then how do I get a hold of her? If I convince her, I think I can try and help you guys fight those monsters!

[That and he really wanted to find out just who killed his mother. Perhaps by joining them, he can get his revenge]

[Well, first off, from where Shinji's sitting, no one's killed Ken's mom yet. And hopefully never will.]

I dunno, send her a letter or something. Why're you even staying up until midnight?

I can't sleep so I thought of staying up.

Why are you up?

[fruitknife]

Because high schoolers make terrible decisions all the time. You're ten, you don't need to start making terrible decisions yet.

I'll be okay! I stayed up at midnight plenty of times before.

And a lot of adults do it too!

[He's a tween so he's technically not a kid!]

You still gotta sleep sometime.

[But maybe don't be Shinji and use school to catch up. Though in his defense, it's not like Gekkoukan's teachers are all that great anyway.]

The same goes to you too. Aren't you a teenager?

I heard the lack of sleep is bad for your health and especially when you're young.

Maybe take that up with the people who think foisting all the work off on teenagers is a good plan. Besides, I already said I was making bad decisions.
