Welcome to the beta test of BadgerNet, Multiversal Edition! Settle in and enjoy your posting experiences. Everything in this will be non-canon.
Here're some example prompts to play around with. You can make up your own!
1. An embarrassing moment of yours just got posted to the site. Oops!
2. Post your proudest moment to the site.
3. Hiccup Event: Vampires. Everyone affected is a vampire, your choice of what style of vampire.
4. Hiccup Event: Disney Princess. Animals just won't leave you alone!
5. Hiccup Event: Actor. You believe you're an actor playing the role of yourself as a character and you have the props and everything to prove it. Chill offstage and all that.
6. You're livestreaming a dramatic moment in your life.
7. Asking the people on the site for advice on something.
And so on. Be sure to read the rules and FAQ before posting.
thanks!
And you've heard the proposal already, but this IS a situation where violence is called for. I won't say it's the answer to every problem, but in this case, the things we fight can't be reasoned with. And force and further strength is called for.
But this said, I hope you realize I've managed well enough on my own thus far....This deletion glitch is one more oddity to assign to this device, it seems. I'll need to keep track of it. And be mindful of what I write and attempt to delete.

[He's just gonna. Ignore the rest of that. The strong will part sounds pretty fake.]
They also get out into town. What if I can't stay on top of it? What if someone gets hurt?
Never said you didn't manage fine alone. The point is that you shouldn't have to. And if this shit gets worse you're gonna hit a limit sooner or later that you might not hit with backup. [Shinji does not doubt Mitsuru's badassery in the slightest.]

From my experience, it's the rare person who breaks out of their coffin and comes in contact with a Shadow; and from there, they either get corrupted and consumed by one, or barely cling onto themselves. Either way, it's a low probability.
This said, we all have things we shouldn't have to do, as you pointed out. But we shoulder them anyway, because they need to be done...And I suppose in a roundabout way that might answer your initial question. Or at least how I view it.
[There's a long pause on the other end, before she resumes typing. One gets the feeling she's choosing each word with extreme care.]
As we established before, I'm biased in this matter. And despite my earlier words, I suppose I'd prefer it if you did consider the option; if nothing else, so you wouldn't be left out in the cold during the more hostile circumstances.

Low isn't zero, but... I guess it's all anybody can really ask for. Probably a way to practice or some shit, if I'm that worried about being the problem.
There is that. And if Aki's on board, I'd get dragged in sooner or later, so it might as well be at the same time. He'll turn himself into a fucking chalk outline without me.
[...It is also not a lie to say Shinji and Aki's relationship is partly built on 'fuck me yourself, you coward,' for all the good it does when one of them doesn't care about pursuing that angle and the other is perpetually oblivious to romance.]
no subject
I can appreciate your loyalty towards him. It seems you work well as a duo.
[Meanwhile, Mitsuru continues to have the range of an ice cube when it comes to emotional and romantic matters. Let alone knowing how to deal with two young-and-equally-troubled-men. Probably for the best that all of this has been left off their collective files.]
If you don't mind me inquiring... On the subject of turning, has the exact form of your potential occurred, yet? When I met with Sanada, he'd yet to fully unlock his other self, or form.

We've known each other since we were four. And after the fire, well. [Miki's death did a number on them both, but Shinji tends to ignore how it hit him. And considering people don't usually set each other on fire, that works fine more often than not.]
...I want a word with whichever sick fuck at your dad's company looked at the Evoker design options and greenlit the gun, but I'm not sure I follow.
['Form' is a concerning word here, okay.]
no subject
[The next lines take her by surprise; there's a full minute of bewildered blinking at the screen.]
...Gun? I'm not certain I'm following, either.
I know that the design was bandied about in the past; something about accepting one's own mortality, or putting the conscious mind at rest. Perhaps through violent symbolism.
But even with that, we never fully employed the gun form of Evokers. With the nature of Persona and channeling demon aspects through it, there wasn't a need for it.
[As she types that, she worries it might be saying too much. But this network has already taught her that trying to delete her words isn't very successful. So instead, she's forced to sit back and wait for a response.]
no subject
...Is this some of that fucking parallel universe bullshit at work. Because 'channeling demon aspects' feels like the kinda thing you
shouldwould have mentioned in the sales pitch. [He stands by that deletion glitch. That should be in the sales pitch - but he's also confident it would have been if it were part of the package. Mitsuru's too blunt to sugarcoat that big of a drawback.(Probably one of the reasons he likes her so much already.)]
It was definitely 'here, stop pretending you're not suicidal and fight monsters as a fringe benefit.'
leaning a bit into Astral Chain on the motifs here!
I'm not certain I'd put it in such terms. But you're correct, I would have mentioned it at some point or another.
...And as implausible as the idea of alternate universes sounds, given the discrepancies in our reports, I'm inclined to believe such a thing.
[In all honesty, once your body is torn asunder and reformed enough nights, you become more inclined towards accepting unusual and borderline impossible things.]
As I said, we've only experimented with gun-type Evokers a few times. The resulting complications were deemed too difficult to manage safely.
[She hopes that wince she gives doesn't carry through the text.]
As of late, we've been relying on a collar and/or armlet combination. A similar enough function, but it does the job of evoking and aspect AND controlling it.
no subject
Shit. And this is already a goddamn mess. Guns or monsters, what a shit lottery. At least it ain't both.
I guess... controlling it's really what's eating at me, even if that's gonna look different than it does for you. Gotta get good quick when people's lives are on the line. [And that's one race Aki's definitely going to win, just because it's another way to punch his problems.]
Also: Still don't understand how turning into a tower and back every night hasn't fucked up the school beyond belief.
no subject
[She carefully removes her hands from the keyboard, considering. There's... An odd twinge of something in her chest. Envy? Shame? Or perhaps some combination of both, that she's discussing such things openly; either way, it isn't conductive to the conversation. She takes a deep breath, and goes back to composing her words.]
Our circumstances differ, when it comes to control and what it is we're controlling. But if you originated from my own world, I'd suggest safety and control in numbers. This isn't something that goes away, just by wishing otherwise.
As for the school... I have guesses on that. But they are only that; educated guesses.
no subject
Doesn't sound like the kind of thing that goes away as it is, really. I'll figure something out. [He has to. The alternative's not worth letting happen.]
What kind of guesses?
no subject
This is all conjecture, mind you. But I think in my own world, it's tied to how the Dark Hour alters everything it comes in contact with. People and surroundings alike. And since no one has come out of the Dark Hour still encased in a coffin or otherwise changed, that must apply to the buildings as well.
[She takes pains to not bring up the Kirijo lab records. Or one of the other theories she's overheard from the science branch; that if the Dark Hour followed conventional rules, she and any other Persona user should have been dead thrice over by now, thanks to the repeated trauma and overclocking of their systems.]
And then there's the Shadows to consider. And the fact that they have the potential of warping time and space. Such a concentration must ripple outwards, to the surrounding area.

And likely why nothing good ever comes from them, beyond a fight.

Nothing good has ever come from attempts to be peaceful, or even passively observing them. Regardless of anyone's intent to do otherwise; I'm certain on that much, and sure it's a constant regardless of worlds.
